Types of vans for people with special needs
There are broadly two types of wheelchair vehicles: side-entry and rear-entry. Rear entry is preferred for families with someone in a wheelchair.
Side entry wheelchair vans
These vans are excellent for parallel parking for passengers in a wheelchair without the need to modify the van
Most non-commercial wheelchair vehicles are side entry. It’s easy to pick up or drop off a passenger at curbside with the Side Entry Wheelchair Trolley. If the truck has an exit and entry ramp, a handicapped space is usually required to accommodate the additional width required. Side-entrance wheelchair buggies usually have seats that can be removed. Some even have benches attached to the door that can be set up by simply closing the door.
